1.Port of Galle :2017 sep18-Nov2 sirlanka sangya
During the trip, we have stopped in following place:
I would like to record what we feel about the pros and cons of each place we stopped.
1. Galle: Port of Galle is next to fort of Galle.
When you find a pic like this on internet, I start to image that there should be some kind of marina like we see in Mediterranean.
Well you can find on net that there was a construction of GALLE HARBOUR YACHT MARINA
which should looks this:
well, not exacly what I think. But when we were there, this floating peer has gone.
Above pic is what I got from google earth, the little green point on the right corner is where we dock the boat.
Since this is a small area right next to cargo peer. There is no water, but with electricity. And lot of garbages in the water.
The peer right at upper wing of us is the area of unloading of cement boat. The whole area is covered by white dust. We have stayed 2 nights on boat, there was a lot of noise and dust in the night, together with mosquitoes and the heat, I have changed 4 places in the night, and only get few hours of sleep.
Since this is a commercial port, you will need a agent to apply for every thing, water, fuel, berth, clearance, custom, immigration...etc. and since the area is in commercial port, every crew need a pass, otherwise you may be stopped by the guard with guns.
Sometimes, some securities are nice, some are redicurious. For example: last night before leaving, we bought lots of water, foods...etc, when we arrived the entry, they ask us for permit..."what permit?, permit for food?" He answered me "yes..." I was getting angry...and try to explain to them these are all for us to eat/drink for next coming days...Maybe my voice was a little high, they finally decided to let us go.
Before we leave, the agent came, and passed a bill to captain.the bill is about 1200USD, terrible.....if you plan to round the world, remember to avoid commercial ports. According the crews experienced mid est and Africa ports, they pay at least 1000USD to agent, not yet counting under table money.
1. Port of Galle in Sirkanka
2. Royal Langkawi Yacht Club
3. Royal Selangor Yacht Club
4.Tekek Marina, Tioman Island, Malaysia
5.Ana Marina Marina Vietnam
6. 三亚半山半岛帆船港酒店
We also have a stop at an anchor area of 歸仁 Vietnam in front of a small fishing village. Not actually in a port area.
I would like to record what we feel about the pros and cons of each place we stopped.
